“ I sat in a cell for the better part of two years fighting for my life; fighting a sentence of life without the possibility of parole, as a juvenile. At times, I tricked myself into believing I would never be free again. At one of the lowest points of my incarceration I swore to myself I would stop at nothing to see the world beyond those walls and make memories no jail cell could take from me. This photo series encapsulates ten years spent discovering this world for myself and sitting with those who society tries to silence. This is my homage to Penal Code 187 and for all the juveniles that never got the opportunity to have a life past those walls. “
